Review: Satisfyer Partner Multifun 1 & 2

Have I mentioned I hate ““couples’ toys”” before? Because I do. I hate the idea that only particular toys are “ok” to use with other people, that there are particular bodies and sex acts that make a pair of people “count” as a couple. I hate the idea of ““couples’ toys”” so much, that if a toy is sold as ‘for couples’, even if it’s in a “for singles and couples” phrase, I will automatically like the product less than otherwise. I am therefore quite possibly the absolute worst sex toy reviewer that Satisfyer could have chosen to send their Satisfyer Partner Multifun 1 and 2 to.

vibes.pngThe Satisfyer Partner Multifun 1 and Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 are a pair of vibrators, sold as “for women, men, and couples” (I have Opinions, but we’ll get to those). They’re a sort of U shape, with one motor in the flatter end- the bottom of the U- and one motor in each of the two ‘feelers’- the tips of the U. Both toys are silicone and have a magnetic charging cable, making them waterproof. The motors in the feelers and body can be controlled separately, each having 3 speeds and 7 patterns.

The Multifun 1 comes in ‘Ocean Blue’, and the Multifun 2 in ‘Bonbon Pink’, but aside from this, the only difference between the two is the shape of the feelers, with the Multifun 1 ‘feelers’ being a little tighter and flatter in the middle. Each is $49.95, and can be bought from Satisfyer.

“”14″” ways to enjoy

In fairness, I did have some hopes for the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 1 and 2 to slightly improve on my general starting perceptions of “”couple’s toys””. They at least aren’t the typical ‘here’s a small vibrator you can strap to your clit, that won’t get in the way of PiV sex’ style of toys I normally see touted as “”couples’ toys””. You know the ones I mean- the small, hands-free vibrators that treat Not Getting In the Way of The Man Body as their goal. The Multifun 1 and 2 are at least more flexible in what they do. They can be used as cockrings, as nipple toys, for clit stimulation, or according to Satisfyer, as g-spot toys (which no, but we’ll get to that).

The box for both toys claims there are ‘more than 14 ways to enjoy!’ your Satisfyer Partner Multifun 1 or 2. They’re stretching the definition a lot- some examples they give are literally the same use, but with/without the partner with a vulva being penetrated- but it’s still an attempt, and an improvement on most ‘couples’ toys’.

But it’s still sold as a ““couples’ toys”” which, uh. Maybe don’t do that. I’m especially bitter because, despite Satisfyer making a big thing about the two toys being usable by “women, men, and couples”, every single example they give of how a couple can use these toys involves penis-in-vagina sex, between a (let’s be honest) presumed cisgender heterosexual couple. I’ll be realistic, even in 2019 I do not expect mainstream sex toy companies to pay attention to the existence of trans people. But I, at the very least, expect some kind of understanding that cisgender m/m and f/f couples exist. Especially when the selling point of a toy is that it is meant to be so versatile!

Obviously, there were a ton of ways my boyfriend and I couldn’t use the Multifun 1 + 2. We are both trans men, and have not had bottom surgery yet. There is no standard issue penis in our relationship. We couldn’t use it on our nipples- he doesn’t want his touched for dysphoria reasons, and top surgery meant mine were severed from my body before being reattached, and I no longer have any feeling in them. But we attempted pretty much all of the others, and even used both the Multifun 1 and 2 as vibrating cockrings for strap-on sex.

The thing with the Multifun 1 and 2 is that, between the two of them, I was able to get off in exactly one way. Putting my dick between the ‘feelers’ of the Multifun 1 got me off, and actually pretty enjoyably. The trouble started where when I tried to use the Multifun 1 in any other way, or the Multifun 2 in any way at all.

A buzzy vibrator is one thing, and  a vibrator where the vibrations are just so surface level my dick literally does not register any kind of feeling is another, which is what happens when I try and use the round end of the Multifun 1 or 2. My boyfriend has the exact same kind of experience, and I don’t even know if I can recommend getting the Multifun 1 for that particular kind of dick/clit stim/pinching, given both of us agree that would never have worked for us pre-testosterone.

The whole ‘these toys cannot get me off except in one specific way, when the whole selling point is the multiple ways it can be used’ thing is bad enough. I actually think I’d be more mad if it was just that, but because it’s on top of my lack of time for the concept of ““couples’ toys””, and on top of my lack of time for Satisfyer as a company right now following that whole stolen designs thing last month, I feel more…tired. I don’t have the energy to be angry about everything there is to be angry about with these toys. I’m just so done. Also that ‘use it to g-spot’ thing? An absolute fucking lie. The feelers on both the 1 & 2 don’t even come close to my g-spot.

Instead of getting either the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 1 or Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2, get a bullet vibrator. Most of the functions that the Multifun tries to sell you on (and all the ones it actually has) can actually be fulfilled with a bullet vibrator and/or a vibrating cock ring. I’m a big fan of the We-Vibe Tango, which I absolutely recommend. Don’t have any recommendations when it comes to cock rings, but Super Smash Cache has a really good post on choosing a vibrating cock ring, which you should definitely go read. You deserve better than the Satisfyer Partner Multitool 1 or 2. Seriously.

If you’d like to buy the Satisfyer Partner Multitool 1 or Satisfyer Partner Multitool 2, you can buy them from Satisfyer for $49.95. Wouldn’t recommend it though
