Review: Frisky Beast/Twin Tail Creations Pocket Snowbird

The Frisky Beast Pocket Snowbird was the first fantasy toy I remember lusting over. But then I did some digging, and turned off by the stories I’d heard of Frisky Beast’s inability to fulfil orders on time. I decided that it wasn’t worth the risk, and that owning a Pocket Snowbird would remain a pipe dream until Frisky Beast cleaned up their act.

And then Frisky Beast stopped existing.

Frisky Beast was acquired by Twin Tail Creations, and while some of the Frisky Beast models are available on-demand alongside the Twin Tail creations, neither the Snowbird or Input Valve (the other FB penetratable I own, review coming soon) are among them. The only way to get either the Snowbird or Input Valve is to wait for an inventory drop, and to jump on what turns up as soon as possible, which is how I acquired my Snowbird and Input Valves. This means you have less choice over colour. While a few items tend to drop at once, if you don’t like the colours on any of them, luck isn’t on your side. Sorry about that. When it is available. the Snowbird is sold in Twin Tail Creations’ FBC Inventory section for $35 (~£27 at the time of writing).

The Pocket Snowbird is, as the name suggests, based on a sort of feathery dinosaur-bird. There’s art on the product page if that’s a little vague a description for you. The sides of the sleeve have a sort of feathery texture, and the end of the sleeve with the main penetrable hole resembles a vulva (although given the dino-bird theme, it’s probably meant to be a cloaca).

Fantasy toys aren’t for everyone, but for what it’s worth, my boyfriend did not recognise that the masturbator was a vulva form until I pointed it out to him. It’s available with both an open and closed end, and in the open end option, the channel runs the full length of the sleeve. This means that there are two hole options, but also that the sleeve doesn’t really provide suction. One hole has a diameter of 0.5 inches, and the other has a diameter of 0.75 inches, and the whole sleeve length is 3 inches. My Snowbird is an open ended sleeve, is in a lovely blue colour, but it’s a bit of a grab bag as to what colours you’ll have access to.

hole1The body of the Snowbird is pretty skinny when compared to the bodies of other sleeves I’ve tried. It definitely felt a little odd to hold it to start with, and it still feels quite petite in my hand. But the feathery texture did make it feel ergonomic and nicely fitting in my hands. I didn’t have any kind of trouble holding it for long periods of time.

The sleeve texture is ribbed, and the ribs are a really good medium compared to other ribbed sleeve I’ve tried. Where the FTM Pitstop Shotpocket’s ribs are too widely spaces, and the Gendercat Fascinator’s are too closely packed and thin, the Snowbird’s ribs are the perfect mid point. The penetrable channel itself is tapered, with the end closer to the external vulva/cloaca being looser, and the sleeve increasing in tightness the deeper you penetrate the sleeve.

If you’re on the smaller size, this might be a little frustrating, but a Snowbird with an open end also gives you the option to penetrate the smaller, tighter hole at the other end.

While I’m definitely a suction over texture kind of guy, I really, really liked the texture here. One of the things I’ve commented on pretty often over on Twitter (side plug: follow my Twitter. I’m chattier over there) is that sleeves for transmasc people tend to be less ‘’realistic’’ than those aimed at cis men. Which is fine, but has left me wanting a more ““realistic”” themed sleeve. While the Snowbird doesn’t quite hit the levels of realism that sleeves aimed at cis men tend to (it’s a bird cloaca, and not a human vulva), the sleeve texture is really spot on. While my experience of vaginal texture is through fingering and fisting people rather than through my dick, the texture on the Snowbird is remarkably close, if a little exaggerated. The texture feels really good in use, and almost seems to intensify as I get closer to orgasm.

At first I thought I’d much prefer a closed end Snowbird, and that choosing an open sleeve might have been a mistake. But I actually warmed to it very quickly! My previous experience with open ended sleeves has been limited to the Krow’s Nest Eel, which didn’t have the same kind of length the the Snowbird does. Because of the length of the Snowbird, it’s possible to squeeze the end of the sleeve you’re not penetrating to create suction, which it isn’t with the Eel. Suction is a big part of what I like about sleeves, so having the ability to create suction is a big point in the Snowbird’s favour. I also quite liked having the ability to vary intensity and pressure through squeezing. It also means I’ve been able to insert a bullet vibrator (the We-Vibe Tango) into the end that I’m not penetrating, and feel some of the vibrations through the sleeve. The silicone of the Snowbird definitely dulls the intensity of the vibrations a little bit, but even just having a little bit of vibration adds to the sensation of penetrating the sleeve.

While I really like the Pocket Snowbird (I’d probably give it second place if I had to rank my penetratables), I definitely think it’s a toy that only works for people with specific anatomies. In this case, that means quite a lot of bottom growth. While I think it’s quite hot that the sleeve feels so close to an actual (albeit small) vagina, the tapered channel suits longer and thicker dicks better than it does other shapes. I think it’d be a great sleeve for those who’ve had meta for that reason. This situation suits me fine- I’m coming up to my 5 year HRT anniversary this summer, and I’ve had a lot of cumulative growth, but if you’ve been on T for less time, it might not fit your body well. Give yourself some more time for growth, and/or try a sleeve with a straight channel (I’d recommend the Gendercat Fascination Sleeve, as it has different options for channel size). But if you’re on the larger size, interested in a more realistic than than non-anatomical sleeve, and not turned off by the fantasy element (which is fine, it is ultimately a dinosaur sex toy), then the Pocket Snowbird is well worth your time and money. The tapered channel and ribbed texture really intensify the orgasms I have with the Snowbird compared to with other sleeves.

Definitely check the sizing on the Pocket Snowbird’s product page, but if you think the size would work for you, I’d really recommend the Pocket Snowbird.

If you’d like to buy your own Pocket Snowbird, you can purchase one for $35 from Twin Tail Creations
