Review: Ylva & Dite Anteros

A lot of the smaller indie sex toy companies I’m aware of are US based, so I’m always happy to find out about companies closer to home. So when the Netherlands based Ylva & Dite reached out to me to see if I’d like to review one of their handmade toys, I was super excited. I’m always happy to have more EU based companies to recommend (to avoid quite so many air miles), and Ylva & Dite’s colour options seemed cute, so I asked to review their Anteros model in a two-tone marble of their colours Sage and Fruit Green– a light minty green, and slightly darker mid-range green.

inhand.pngThe Anteros is a larger version of another Ylva & Dite model- the Eros– and both models are a slightly curved, semi-realistic dildos, with slight bulges on the shaft body. The Anteros has a length of 19.5 cm (or 7.6 inches), and a variable diameter of between 3cm (just over 1.1 inch) and 4.3 cm (1.6 inches). If that sounds a little much for you, the Eros is a little smaller, with a length of 17cm (~6.6 inches) and a diameter of between 2.7 and 4.2cm (1 and 1.6 inches). Both the Eros and Anteros have a flared base (making them anal safe and harness compatible) and come in a variety of one and two colour options, from Lemon to Vanity Pink/Luster Violet.

While the Anteros is technically harness compatible, I’m not super confident about the idea of using it in a harness. While there is a flared base, and it is a good size compared to the shaft, the layer of silicone that makes up the base is pretty thin. I didn’t have any trouble using it with metal O-rings, but was less confident using the Anteros with silicone rings. This means I didn’t use it much with my SpareParts Joque, and only really used it with my (cooler looking but less comfortable) leather harness, which I have a metal O-ring in.

As I said, the Anteros has two bulb-like bulges on its shaft- one in the centre of the dildo’s length, and one more towards the tip end. They remind me a lot of the bulges on my Pride Dildo, although there’s a lot more length between the Anteros’ base and its first bulge than there is on the Pride Dildo. I was hoping this would mean the Anteros was a similarly excellent g-spot dildo, and I was right. The broad head actually makes the g-spot stimulation better than the Pride dildo is, and the bulges add a sense of fullness. However (and this however is just a personal preference) the silicone is just a little too firm for me for comfortable vaginal use at this size. I’ve gotten used to the soft silicone of fantasy toys, and while I think I would have been fine with the Eros, the Anteros is just a little large for a toy made of such firm silicone, at least for vaginal use.

I wasn’t able to use the whole length of the Anteros for anal sex, but did very comfortably use it to between the two bulges, and on a few occasions just below both bulges. While the tip is a little more pointed than I would like for anal toys, the firmness of the Anteros works really well for me for anal sex. While I can’t use the whole length, this means I have enough length to hold onto- the base is a little too thin to hold comfortably- and enough leftover length to properly utilise the Anteros’ suction cup.

I actually forgot that the Anteros has a suction cup by the time it arrived. The base looks relatively flat, and I placed the Anteros down onto my table on the base without thinking much of it. That is, until I tried to lift the Anteros off the table. The suction cup here is surprisingly strong for looking so unobtrusive, and I really enjoyed riding the Anteros using it.

Despite the fact I wasn’t able to take the whole length anally, I enjoyed Anteros as an anal dildo. The suction cup strength really impressed me, and not being able to take the whole length actually worked in my favour, as this meant I was better able to utilise the suction cup. If you’re like me and used to softer silicone, I’d suggest looking at the smaller Eros rather than the larger Eros if you’re looking for a vaginal toy, but if you know you like firmer toys, the Anteros is well worth your time.
