Review: Sliquid Sassy

Despite Sliquid Sassy being my most used lubricant- Sutil Rich being the one lubricant I’ve preferred over it- I’ve never actually written a full review of it. It’s turned up a lot in the pictures I put on my Instagram and the cover pictures in my reviews, but (until now) I haven’t take the time to sit down and talk about it. Sliquid is the lube I see raved about most by other sex bloggers, and while my words aren’t going to contradict any of that, I still think it’s worth adding my thoughts to the mix.

Sliquid offer a variety of lubes, some water based, some hybrid, some silicone based, some flavoured, some stimulating, and others organic. There’s a Sliquid lube for pretty much every need and desire you can think of, and they are all glycerin free, paraben free, and vegan friendly. The first two are super important to me- I have a very sensitive vulva/vagina- and while the latter isn’t important to me personally (I’m a leather kinkster after all, despite the vegetarianism), I am queer, and so play with enough vegans for it to be a plus in my book. But of all the Sliquid lubes I’ve tried, Sassy is the one I keep coming back to.

Sliquid Sassy is marketed as a ‘booty gel’ for anal use, although while I have and do use it for anal play, it’s also totally fine to use for vaginal play as it’s pH neutral. It has a thicker consistency than some other lubes, with an almost gel like consistency, is pretty tasteless and odourless, and I haven’t had any issues with it staining any fabrics in the 4 years I’ve been using it.

The ingredients listed on the Sliquid Sassy bottle are:

  • Purified Water
  • Plant Cellulose (from Cotton)
  • Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners)
  • Potassium Sorbate
  • Citric Acid

sliquid2Compatible with silicone toys, Sliquid Sassy is usable for pretty much all kinds of sex- I’ve used it vaginal penetration, externally on a vulva, for anal penetration, externally on a penis, for titfucking, and even for fisting. While Sliquid Sassy wouldn’t be my top recommendation for fisting lube- that’d be Boy Butter for anal fisting, although I haven’t found my perfect vaginal fisting lube yet- it absolutely is usable for this purpose, and I’ve used it for both vaginal and anal fisting. The only caveat I’d add is that, being a water based lube, Sliquid Sassy can dry out in use. This can be fixed by adding more lube (I’ve found lube applicators are great for this if engaging in pretty deep anal penetration), or adding water, although it can still be a little annoying. This is worth it for me- I use silicone toys a lot and I’m not willing to risk my toys being damaged, so silicone lubes aren’t worth the risk even if they are longer lasting- but, of course, your preferences and priorities may be different.

As a general lube, I do have a mild preference for Sutil Rich. I honestly can’t really explain why- Sutil feels a little softer maybe? I find it to be a little longer lasting? That aside, I find Sutil does have an issue with taste where Sliquid Sassy doesn’t- if I’m going to give oral sex to a partner after using a lube on them, I’d prefer Sassy over Rich. Additionally, it’s worth noting Sutil is a lot harder to find in different places in the world- I’m in the UK and Sutil Rich is basically impossible to find outside of importing it. Sliquid Sassy is much more accessible to me.

While I don’t know anyone who has had any kind of issues with Sliquid Sassy, it’s not impossible that it might not play nice with somebody. Everyone’s lube preferences are different as we all have different bodies. That said Sliquid Sassy works really well for me, and if somebody in my personal life asks for a lube recommendation, Sliquid Sassy is always the lube I recommend first, no matter who is asking me for a lube recommendation. For particular specialised uses I might point to other lubes, but as a general lube to have in the bedside drawer, Sliquid Sassy is always my top recommendation.
