Review: Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 7 Inch Dildo

I am honestly very desensitised to sex toys at this point. My reaction when I unbox a set of toys for review is normally a very mild ‘oh, neat!’ before I decant them into the ‘to be reviewed crate’. And yet when I opened the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 7 inch dildo, my first thought was ‘oh, I really want to strap this on’. I can’t really point to why, because the Yum Yum doesn’t fit a lot of my preferences when it comes to strap-on dildos. It has a realistic shape—with a well defined head and vein detailing—, a completely non skin tone colour that doesn’t lean into fantasy, and an incredibly firm silicone —I think it may be the firmest silicone dildo I own actually—, while my preferences when it comes to strapping on tend towards softer silicones and either skin tones or completely fantasy designs. But there’s some praise for you right there—made me actively horny at the idea of strapping it on, despite not being my type on paper at all.

And the colour of the silicone is absolutely gorgeous. The Yum Yum dildo line has three colour options (as well as three sizes, making 9 options in total)—pink, purple, and blue. All are marbles of their dominant colour and white, making each dildo slightly unique, and the marble on my blue dildo is absolutely gorgeous. There are areas where blue is very stark and dominant, but they blend into white in very gradual ways that give the swirl an organic feel. There are some edges between colours that are a little more stark, but the overall effect is a lovely sweeping swirl marble.

I did assume that this colouration would come at a price premium, but the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 7 inch is actually cheaper than some of the single colour 7 inch Colours Pleasures dildos that Betty’s Toy Box also stocks, at $46.99. All colour options are the same price, with some variation in the pricing for the three sizes—the smaller 6 inch Yum Yum dildo is slightly cheaper at $43.99, and the larger 8 inch one slightly more expensive at $49.99.

The Suction Cup

The suction cup is not something I actually noticed when I first opened the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo. In fact, it took me a little bit of time to realise it actually had a suction cup. Unlike a lot of the other suction dildos that Colours Pleasures makes, the suction cup doesn’t seem like it’s been tacked onto the dildo base, but is actually sculpted into the dildo form.

This did make me worry a little bit about the strength of the suction cup—as some of the other dildos I’ve tried with inbuilt suction cups, like the Avant Bi Pride dildo haven’t been super strong— but I’m happy to be able to say I was completely wrong about this. It’s an incredibly strong suction cup—it actually takes a little bit of elbow grease to remove it.

While the firmess of the Yum Yum is a bit of a double edged sword (more on that later) it works well for suction cup use. While I do love the previous suction cup dildo I’ve reviewed for Betty’s Toy Box—the Real Supple Poseable 10.5″ Dildo— the softness of its silicone meant it didn’t keep positioning well. The Yum Yum’s silicone is so firm that it’s extremely unlikely you’ll bend it out of shape or position through movement straddling it or grinding up against it.

Anal Use

One of the caveats of that silicone firmness is that I can’t get the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo into my vagina comfortably. This is, in fairness, not only due to the silicone—I don’t like PiV sex, I go through phases of not liking it during solo sex, and I am currently having a stone top moment—but the firmness doesn’t help. This in turn means I mostly used the Yum Yum dildo anally, so I want to add a bit more context on how I like to use toys anally. When it comes to anal play, I’m not hugely into the feeling of being thrust into (which is why I also don’t like bottoming for PiA), but I do like the feeling of being stretched out. This means I mostly play with plugs, and tend towards squishier ones at that. However, the firmness of the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum dildo did make it feel more of a challenge than if it had been a softer silicone— generally, a firmer silicone dildo will be more difficult to take than a softer dildo of the same size. The Yum Yum isn’t the largest toy I’ve taken anally (it’s probably not even in the top handful), but the firmness means it feels like a nice good big stretch, which I’m really into.

Strap-On Use

I wanted to strap the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 7 inch Silicone Dildo on the moment I opened it, but how did it actually feel to use harnessed? It’s a mixed bag. The dildo did feel lovely and solid and weighty in my harness, in all the ways that really do it for me. The suction base shape—built into the shape of the dildo itself—worked really well for harnessed use. Some suction cups can be a bit poke-y, but the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum’s suction cup base was exceptionally comfortable. The only downside is that double-edged firmness again. I tend to top quite roughly, and much prefer softer silicones as a result.

While I could use the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum perfectly well—and unff, it made me feel sexy to wear it—I did feel I’d have to hold back a bit because of how rock-hard the silicone is. It also means I wouldn’t really recommend the Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 7 inch dildo for strap-on blowjobs—check out the Real Supple line for softer dildos that I’d say are more suited for that.

Overall

The Colours Pleasures Yum Yum 7 inch dildo is an absolutely gorgeous dildo visually. The suction cup is really well designed, fitting comfortably into a harness without compromising on suction cup strength. However, the level of firmness this dildo has means it has some limitations, and the firmness is a double-edged sword in some use cases, at least if you’re not into firmer silicones (if you are, get it!). Colours Pleasures does do some of their toys in dual density silicone, and I’d love to see a dual density version of the Yum Yum line. Until then though, my overall take is ‘absolutely yes if you’re into firmer silicone, maybe if you like a greater feeling of stretch, and no if you know you prefer soft silicones’.
