Review: Rock Candy Toys Suga Daddy Dildo

One of the things about being a polyamorous top who primarily straps-on is I end up carry around a mental spreadsheet of my partners’ dildo preferences. They have different size preferences, prefer different firmnesses, some want targeted g-spot or prostate stimulation while others want a straight toy, a few adore squirting toys while another hates them, and there’s a whole range of preferred textures.

When Betty’s Toy Box asked me if I wanted to review the Suga Daddy 7 Inch Swirled Dildo, I took one look at the listing and knew it was going to be a favourite of at least one of my partners. The swirl texture is very similar to the Split Peaches Unicorn Horn—a dildo that’s a favourite for a few partners—or any number of ‘unicorn horn’ themed toys, with one change. Unlike the more strictly horn shaped toys, it has a more realistic defined cock head, which is something I was curious about.

The Rock Candy Toys Suga Daddy

Rock Candy Toys is a company I’ve been vaguely aware of for a while. I knew they made poppy candy intended for oral sex (something which both intrigues and slightly terrifies me), as well as a very cute (but unfortunately porous jelly) gummy bear shaped vibrator. Beyond that though, I wasn’t super aware of what their product offerings were. As it turns out, they included the aforementioned products, as well as cock rings (including a ring pop inspired one that delights me, even if I wish it were silicone rather than TPE), plastic external vibrators, a few silicone vibrators, and the Suga Daddy dildo in various size and colour options.

The 7 inch Suga Daddy dildo that I chose is relatively mid-point in terms of size range. The Suga Daddy does go as short as 5.5 inches or as long as 9.5 inches. While I chose a hot pink colour (highlighter pink as a dildo colour is something I’ve found I’m warming to), all sizes are available from Betty’s Toy Box in pink, blue, purple, or a dark skin tone, with a few also available in a light skin tone. Do note that the lengths here refer to total length—the 7 inch Suga Daddy has an insertable length of 6.5 inches.

The Suga Daddy is harness compatible, and also has a suction cup that is (thankfully) exactly the kind of suction cup I prefer dildos to have if I’m also wearing them in a harness. The price of each Suga Daddy dildo varies depending on size, but they’re all under $45, with the 5.5 inch Suga Daddy costing $27.99 and the 9.5 inch option costing $42.99. The one I’m reviewing costs $34.99.

The silicone isn’t what I’d call soft (although do take into consideration I often play with fantasy toys, which tend towards softer silicones), but it definitely has some squish to it. I’d place it as a ‘medium-firm’ on a fantasy. While I think they’re both technically 15A, the Suga Daddy does feel a little softer than the Godemiche Ambit, although that may in part be due to the satin-y feel. It’s also a lot softer than the 20A of my Split Peaches Unicorn Horn.

Wearing The Suga Daddy Harnessed

Suction cup-dildos are often hit or miss for me when it comes to strap-on comfort. If a suction cup is very protrudes too much from the base, I tend to find it uncomfortable. This is worsened for dildos that have balls as I find it difficult to find a comfortable placement for the o-ring (while I think it’s super pretty, something like the Party Marty looks like a bit of a nightmare for me strapping-on wise), but even without balls, my mons is prissy and wants bases as close to flat as possible. The Suga Daddy doesn’t have this issue at all. While its suction cup is strong enough to making it usable, the profile of the base itself is relatively flat, making it pretty comfortable to wear in a harness.
Vaginal Use

I do want to give a disclaimer that the information I have about the Suga Daddy for vaginal use is second-hand (as I’ve only personally used the Suga Daddy anally), and the testing I have done with it has been in the context of strap-on sex, rather than using it by hand.

Because of its relatively straight shaft, the Suga Daddy doesn’t really offer targeted g-spot stimulation. While I suspect some of the larger models of the Suga Daddy might be effective at reaching the A-spot, the 6.5 inch insertable length of the 7 inch model isn’t quite large enough for that. However, it does offer satisfying, consistent texture. The large spiralling shape and slight plushness of the silicone do mean it’s perhaps not right for ‘all texture all the time’ types, but does mean you can get away with a bit more movement without it becoming overwhelming. And I do want to emphasise that those two factors don’t mean the texture is underwhelming.

Anal Use

So one of the big differences between the Suga Daddy and a more classic ‘unicorn horn’ shaped toy is that it has a more cock-like head. The very smooth taper of a toy like the Split Peaches Unicorn horn means it feels almost tailor made for butts. While the Suga Daddy does still have a bit of a taper, the more pronounced head does mean the insertion part of using it feels a bit more awkward. That said, I don’t think the defined head is without its merits— it adds a ‘pop’ sensation during insertion and removal that I quite enjoy.

The slightly squishy silicone makes the texture of the Suga Daddy reasonably comfortable, without being too squishy to actually provide sensation. One of my favourite ways to use dildos that are ‘twirled’ like the Suga Daddy is to gently twist them when they’re anally inserted, and the Suga Daddy is just as fun to use this way (both on myself and on others) as I expected.

The only real criticism I have of the Suga Daddy when it comes to anal use is the same criticism I have for vaginal use—it’s not great for targeted stimulation. Some of the marketing copy does mention the head “will tease and please the G-spot or P-spot”, and truthfully, I think ‘tease’ is the best you’re likely to get here.

Overall

With the disclaimer that the Suga Daddy is a texture and ‘fullness’ dildo first and foremost, I really like it! It has a fun aesthetic, a large range of sizes, a suction cup that’s strong enough to be useful but doesn’t feel intrusive for strap-on play, a good balance point of slightly squishy silicone without being too yielding, and a really great price point.
