Review: Bijoux Indiscrets Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray

The Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray from Bijoux Indiscrets is quite different from the products I normally review on this blog. I occasionally review lubes, but generally don’t go for serums or creams and the like. But I wanted to try something outside of my reviewing comfort zone, and this 13 ml glass spray bottle of citrus flavoured liquid—designed to facilitate more comfortable oral sex—is certainly outside of that comfort zone. And while I do use some Bijoux Indiscrets products (mostly their clitoral balms), a mouth spray is also a type of product I haven’t really used since my early days of having sex, before I started blogging. What can I say, in 2023 I’m apparently trying to push myself.

Why I Wanted To Review It

So having a dry mouth during oral sex is not generally an issue I have. My enthusiasm for giving head has—for the most part—Pavlov-ed me into producing a lot of saliva when I need it, and I generally just use lube (sometimes flavoured if I feel fancy, often not) when I am feeling a bit dry.

However, there is something I sometimes struggle with producing enough saliva for which lube can’t really fix. It’s not for everyone, but (especially in the context of other kink) I’m a big fan of spitting into partners’ mouths and onto their faces. While dry mouth during oral sex isn’t a huge issue for me, I knew that if the Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray helped to produce spit for spraying, I’d honestly probably add it to my kink go-bag, especially due to the travel size bottle.

Taste & Sensation

Bijoux Indiscrets describes the taste of the Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray as ‘citrus’, and it is undeniably citrus-y, just in a way that I absolutely cannot identify in any more detail than that. It reminds me of a sort of generic citrus fizzy drink. Which makes sense given one of the main ingredients is citric acid (which I’ll talk about a little in a second). It’s quite a tart taste and I can see it being unpleasant to a lot of people, although I’m neutral-to-mildly-positive on the flavour. But I used to suck lemons as a kid, so my calibrations for flavour may not be yours.

Some people have described a slight numbing sensation where the spray hits their tongue, but I didn’t experience this at all. In fact, I don’t really feel anything where the spray hits my tongue, until about 10 seconds later when my mouth suddenly gets quite wet.

And speaking of that…

Spit Production

I’ve already mentioned that every body is different, but I want to re-emphasise it. My body reacting in a certain way doesn’t mean that your body will do the same. With that disclaimer out of the way, I will say that the spray was pretty fast acting for me—within a few seconds, my mouth produce some spit.

I did produce less spit in response to the spray than I expected. On the one hand, I’m glad I was not an extremely drool-y, but the amount of spit I produced was about enough to get one good glob (I’m sorry, I have no idea how to make this sound sexy) into a partner’s mouth, with a little left over. Not enough for a second spit though, and while it’s enough spit it would definitely take the edge off if I were using the spray for oral sex, it’s not nearly enough to make oral sex as sloppy as I like it. To use the Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray for multiple spits into my partners’ mouth, I do need to keep reapplying it. This isn’t the worst thing in the world (I do kink, after all, so everyone is used to setup and safety checks), but it is something to bear in mind if what you’re looking for is a more seamless experience.

Limitations

I mentioned it earlier, but I want to come back to citric acid. I’ve mentioned that I like to spit on my partners’ faces but only used the Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray for mouth spitting, and there’s a reason for that. Citric acid is an irritant to the eyes, so I’ve limited myself to getting quite close up and only going for the mouth, to avoid accidental irritation of eyes.

The Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray also contains glycerine. I’m very cautious about this and don’t like any interaction between glycerine and vulvas due to yeast infection risk. I’m sure somebody thinks I’m being overzealous in not recommending using this spray for oral sex on a vulva, but that’s where my personal safety lines lie.

And finally, as I said, this is not a ‘one-and-done’ kind of product. You likely will need to reapply it, which is probably not going to be the best experience for people who aren’t into the taste.

Overall

The Slow Sex Mouthwatering Spray will probably make it into my kink go-bag. It doesn’t take up much space, and it does make spitting into my partners’ mouths a whole lot easier. And, tbh, once my spray runs out I’ll probably buy myself some more.

However, the amount of saliva my body produces in response to it doesn’t work well for oral sex, which is the actual intended purpose of the spray. I can definitely see it taking the edge off enough for it to be worth it for some people, but in all honesty I’d really just recommend getting a flavoured lube.
