Review: Liebe Seele Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip

Whips are the toy that — to me — feels more iconic of BDSM fantasies. While I’d argue the flogger is more ubiquitous in the actual scene and far more common in play, the first glimpses I had of my own interest in kink was watching whip wielding characters on screen.

Single tails are also something I’ve been practicing and training with a lot more recently! I’ve been a regular flogger top for a few years, and have always wanted to expand to other impact toys. The Liebe Seele Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip arrived to me at exactly the right time!

As I said in my most recent review another for Liebe Seele product, Liebe Seele have been a mixed manufacturer for me historically. My go-to cuffs and gag are from them, as is my favourite travel-friendly riding crop and a cat-o-nine-tails that I adore. But Liebe Seele also produced a tawse I wasn’t hugely impressed by, and — most relevant for this review — another bullwhip that I didn’t enjoy using at all.

Luckily, as with the Angel’s Kiss Mini Riding Crop, the Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip is pretty great!

Liebe Seele Angel’s & Demon’s Kiss Collection

Liebe Seele releases most of their products in collections with a variety of gear in matching colours, so you can have a whole matching collection if you wish. Their collections and the variety within them are one of my favourite things about Liebe Seele — there’s the classic black leather and silver hardware of the Black Bond collection, the burgundy and gold metal of Red Wine, the pastel pink/mint and white of Fairy, and the metallic leather of the Rose Gold collection.

The Angel’s and Demon’s Kiss collection is one of two halves — a peachy pink shade of leather for the Angel’s side, and a black for the Demon’s, both with an ostrich finish and paired with gold hardware.

As well as this bull whip, the Demon’s Kiss side of the collection also contains a cat-o-nine tails, ankle cuffs, wrist cuffs, two collar and leash sets, three collar options, a spreader bar, a gag, a riding crop, a flogger, a blindfold, a paddle, hogtie attachments, and a mini riding crop (check out my review of the Angels’ Kiss version).

Leather & Construction

Even on products that don’t work for me, the one thing I can always say about Liebe Seele is their leather construction is absolutely gorgeous. The Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip is no exception. As somebody with a leather fetish, I love the smell and feel of the leather. While stitching is minimal (only appearing on the pointed tip and the storage handle), it is lovely and neat.

There are some differences in design between this whip and the Victorian Garden Whip, which I’ve previously reviewed for Liebe Seele. This is by no means a bad thing — I found the Victorian Garden whip wasn’t ideally balanced, and wasn’t a huge fan.

While the diamond shaped tips are identical, the handle on the Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip is longer. Combined with the shorter length, this means the Demon’s Kiss throws very differently. I am actually really curious about the difference in length — both are listed by Liebe Seele as being 90 cm total with a 16 cm handle. While the 90 cm is accurate for the Victorian Garden one from tip to end of handle, the Demon’s Kiss whip measured in 83 cm for the same tip-to-end of handle dimension. And while the 16 cm handle was accurate for the Demon’s Kiss handle, the handle on the Victorian Garden whip measured 14.5 cm.

To be clear, I’m not complaining about these measurements, at least not on the Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip. I am a little miffed that the measurements as given aren’t accurate though., but I have found they make the toy as a whole a much better experience to throw. And speaking of that…

Using The Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip

I have very little to say other than the Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip is absolutely lovely to throw. It feels light in my hand — while I haven’t reached the level of fluency with single tails that I have with floggers, it’s well behaved enough I don’t need to spend a lot of mental energy planning where my blows will go. I haven’t managed to crack it, but I’m not somebody for whom that’s a big factor of the appeal of whips.

Speaking of which, I will caution that single tail whips are very much not a beginner’s impact toy. They require more space and more finesse than other kinds of toys, and if you’re newer to impact, I’d suggest going for a flogger first (with potentially a dragontail as a ‘in-between’ floggers and single tails).

That said, for a first single tail, the Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip is pretty good! Having a rigid handle means there’s a shorter learning curve here, and arguably (there’s a lot of debate) can make it easier to throw accurately. I think the length here is also a benefit — it’s on the small side for whips, at approximately 2.7 ft long. For context, a 3 ft whip is the size I’ve seen most used for indoor events at dungeons, and is what I started my whip training with.

Experience As A Bottom

On the bottom end of things, the Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip is just as lovely. It’s very stingy, as whips generally are, and I got raised red welts very quickly and easily. While not on the intense end for whips, it’s definitely towards my upper limit for stinging pain as a bottom.

Something I didn’t manage to do was break skin, although I say that with the caveat I am not nearly as hard a masochist as I am a sadist. This does alleviate my main concern with single tails — drawing blood. I’m not against bleeding a bit (and I enjoy drawing it on the top side of things), but leather can’t be sanitised. This doesn’t mean leather toys that draw blood are off the table, just that they (like leather that has any other body fluid on it) need to be limited to either single partners or fluid-bonded groups

Overall

I really like the Liebe Seele Demon’s Kiss Bull Whip! While I am a bit miffed about the inaccuracy of measurements on their website, I can’t argue that the finished product isn’t lovely. It throws really well, feels lovely to hold, and feels horrible-in-a-good way on the bottom end of things.
