Review: Womanizer Liberty 2

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of air pulsation (also called ‘suction’, although that’s not accurate) toys. My top 3 spot of 2023 was taken up by one, and so far this year I’ve also reviewed (and loved) the Womanizer Next and last year found the Womanizer Classic 2 was my favourite part of the Lovehoney x Womanizer 2023 Advent Calendar.

When I was offered it, I was really excited to compare and contrast the Womanizer Liberty 2 with the aforementioned Womanizer Next. I love the Womanizer Next, but it is very much a luxury sex toy — with a retail price of £189, it is actually the second most expensive I’ve ever received for review at the time of writing, just pushed into second place by the Mysteryvibe Tenuto 2. This means it’s just not a financially accessible option for a lot of people.

While the Liberty 2 is not the most affordable air pulsation model that Womanizer make (that’d be the Starlet 3 at the time of writing) and will still cost you a reasonable chunk of cash, £89 is a lot more accessible as a luxury purchase than £189. I definitely preferred the Womanizer Next to the Womanizer Classic 2 (which sits midway between the two price wise), but as the Liberty 2 is a more recent release, I was interested to see how performance matched up.

The Womanizer Liberty 2

The Womanizer Liberty 2 is a lot smaller and more compact than the other Womanizer models I’ve tried and tested, with a total length of just over 10cm compared to the Next’s 17.1cm and Classic 2’s 14.8cm length. Given it’s marketed as a travel friendly toy this makes sense, as does the clamshell style case and travel lock, which prevents it from being accidentally turned on in your bag. I will admit that don’t tend to travel much, so this case is a bit wasted on me, but I appreciate its inclusion.

This smaller length also means that the Liberty 2 weighs significantly less than the other Womanizer models I own, at just 90g. For comparison, the Classic 2 weighs in at 117.9g, while the Next is 480g (!). It does have a slightly shorter run time, which does somewhat undermine the ease of holding it for a longer period of time, but given this is also coupled with a proportionally shorter charge time I’m not too mad about it.

Like the other Womanizers I’ve owned, the Liberty 2 comes with a 5-year warrantee and waterproof to an IPX 7 rating (which means it can be submerged for 30 mins at a depth of 1m).

Something that my other Womanizers don’t have is that the Liberty 2 has a light around its nozzle. I didn’t expect this, but it’s a feature I actually quite like! I tend to have a quick masturbation session before I go to bed, so I frequently use my toys with the lights off. Having that little nozzle light makes it easier to position the Liberty 2. I’m genuinely such a fan of this little feature that I wish the other Womanizer models I own included it!

There’s four colour options — Purple, Dark Petrol, Sage, and Vibrant Rose — all of which are pretty cute! I actually had a hard time deciding what colour I wanted to ask for, although I eventually decided to go with the Vibrant Rose.

Holding And Positioning

The Womanizer Liberty 2’s smaller body means I’ve found I need to hold it a bit differently to the other Womanizer models I own. It requires resting fingers right behind the part of the toy that actually makes contact with the user’s clitoris. For a conventional vibrator, this would be a big swing and a miss for me, as resting your hand so close to a motor can lead to hand numbness or discomfort over time. However, because the Womanizer Liberty 2 is an air pulsation toy, this isn’t a huge deal for me here.

One other factor here is that the lack of a longer body means it can be a bit more difficult to place the Womanizer Liberty 2 between bodies. While I haven’t had penetrative vaginal sex with the Womanizer Liberty 2 (so can’t speak to that), I have found putting it between bodies during makeouts, BDSM activities, massages, or other erotic activities has been a bit more difficult than with my Womanizer Next or Classic 2. My hands need to be closer to my body, making it more easy for me to accidentally elbow my partner or to have an arm that’s in the way.

Air Pulsation

The Womanizer Liberty 2 has 8 air pulsation settings, and as to be expected they are Good. There’s a lot less minute control than there is on the Next, and I’d say the Next’s air pulsations feel a bit… smoother? They feel equally powerful, but the Liberty 2’s feel a bit rougher and more mechanical, and overall a bit more forceful. I’m still very happy with them and can reach orgasm pretty quickly and comfortably, but my wife does also call me “Ole’ Iron Clit” sometimes, so I’m not exactly working from a more sensitive base here.

While not covering as wide a spectrum as the Next, there’s a pretty good range of intensities. I described the Womanizer Next as good for couples who have very different needs when it comes to clitoral toys, and while I wouldn’t exactly say the same here (I feel like if you’re not a fan of air pulsation in general, the Liberty 2 is not for you), it does offer a pretty decent range for the air pulsation aficionado. I will also add that the air pulsations do really benefit from Womanizer’s general thuddiness compared to competing brands (Satisfyer especially comes to mind here).

Overall

I may be biased towards air-pulsation toys, but I really like the Womanizer Liberty 2! While it may not have quite the range or smooth pulsations of the Womanizer Next, it also does not have the Next’s price tag. The air pulsations are really good and rumbly — even as somebody with a hardy clit, I enjoy the low and mid-range as warmup rather than going for the high settings straight away.

While the travel-friendly selling point honestly does not do much for me personally (if I am travelling with sex toys, I’m normally going to a sex party and taking so much BDSM gear with me that 5cm of vibrator length is not going to make a difference), I don’t want to undersell it! If travel-friendlyness is an important factor for you, the Liberty 2 absolutely takes the crown when it comes to my Womanizer models. And I also think its lighter weight and smaller size make it well suited to people who can’t hold heavy toys for very long and/or people who need a discrete or easily hidden toy.

If you’re looking for a toy that can be easily used between bodies, I’d say the Classic 2’s longer body is more suited for you, but that’s very much an individual use case. I’d personally absolutely use the Liberty 2 in the place of my Classic 2, and that comes in addition to the Liberty 2 being at a lower price point. And while it still is a luxury toy, it absolutely justifies that luxury price tag performance-wise in my opinion.

  1. How does Liberty 2 compare to other common suction/pulsation toys (Womanizer Classic and Premium, some of the Rose toys such as Romp/Lovehoney and white label ones, the Satisfyers) terms of sound and battery life? Is it decently quiet enough when pressed against the skin to not be distracting during use + not be heard through the closed door? Does it hold charge well between uses before it needs charging again?

    1. It’s definitely quieter than my Satisfyers, a little louder than my Womanizer Classic and Premium, and quieter than my white label Rose. I’ve not tried any of the Romp pulsation toys, so can’t speak to them, and I actually gave my Lovehoney Rose to a friend, so can’t do a 1:1 comparison there 😅 From memory, it’s a little louder, but that is based on memory so take with a pinch of salt.

Against skin, the noise is muffled pretty effectively, although as it doesn’t come with the Afterglow feature I’d be a little cautious about forgetting to turn it off before pulling away from my body. I’ve run it down a couple of times, and not noticed a difference in strength as the battery gets lower.

In terms of battery life (both total and ratio of charge time to play time), definitely worse off than the other Womanizers I own, better than my Satisfyers, better than my Lovehoney Rose, and signficantly better than my white label Rose wrt charge time to play time ratio.
