Review: Hankey’s Toys El Rey

While being a transmasculine person who exclusively tops has its challenges, one of the things I genuinely find a lot of joy in is the fact my dick is so customisable. When I hookup with somebody for the first time, I love to open the drawer of dildos that I have and tell them to pick one (or multiple!) options. With my longer term partners, I develop a really good eye for toys that fit their specific taste in dicks, and when I saw the El Rey, I knew it was a perfect match for one partner in particularly.

Like many of Hankey’s Toys products, the El Rey is on the larger side — I chose the medium size, and even that has an insertable length of 11 inches, making it among the largest dildos I own. (The XXL size has a 14 inch insertable length if you’re feeling brave!). What drew me to the El Rey though was the design — while it’s more realistic than their Dragon or Alien Breeder dildos, it’s still gorgeous to look at. I’m not normally fussed about foreskin on dildos (although the partner I had in mind when choosing the El Rey has a huge thing for uncut dicks), but here I find it genuinely really hot to look at. While it can’t be pulled back, it’s visually gorgeous and something I find really sexy to look at and play with.

The El Rey is a tapered shape, but is actually thickest at the middle rather than than the base. On my medium sized El Rey, the head’s circumference is 7.25 inches, the widest point in the middle is 8.75 inches in circumference, and near the base it’s an 8 inch circumference.

Sizes & Other Options

Like the other Hankey’s Toys dildos I’ve reviewed, the El Rey is made to order, so there’s a huge range of customisation options. As well as size, there’s options for silicone firmness, silicone colour, and if your toy comes with a Vac-U-Hole, making it compatible with Vac-U-Lock harnesses and other accessories.

My El Rey is in size medium, in a 75% firmness and the colour ‘natural tan’. There is a slightly squishier option available — the 40% firmness — as well as two firmer options — medium firm and extra firm. The cost of your El Rey can vary depending on options — mine would have cost $144.90.

Bottoming For The El Rey

I won’t lie, my butthole cannot take the El Rey at the moment. However, I have very talented partners when it comes to anal, who were happy to give me detailed notes, as well as answer a lot of very specific followup questions.

The El Rey is size focused rather than prostate or sensation focused, so texture is pretty minimal and the shaft is pretty straight. However, this focus pays off. The minimal texture means it’s much more comfortable at a large size than a more textured toy would be, and the straight shaft means the El Rey can stand upright without bending (even with its larger dimensions and in the softer standard silicone option), making it easier to ride.

My partner also really liked the fact the shaft gets narrower after the half-way point, commenting that this makes it easier to focus on the stretch/filling feeling that’s happening more deeply rather than the more shallow penetration. It’s exceptionally well designed, with a real understanding of how bodies work and how a toy can be built to work ergonomically.

Strapping On The El Rey

While my butthole may not be able to take the El Rey, my hips absolutely can. It’s definitely more difficult to wield than smaller toys — while my Mr S Leather Dildo Harness can hold it and does distribute the weight pretty comfortable over my hips, I’m still ultimately strapping on a huge chuck of silicone. While the El Rey stands up straight when placed on the ground, the weight of it does tend to pull forwards a little when in a harness, and it does have a bit of a droop in angle. Admittedly, this isn’t as much of an issue once actually inserted, as my bottom’s body offers some support, but I do absolutely need at least one hand supporting the El Rey while I’m inserting it into my partner.

While I might not be able to fuck as hard and fast with the El Rey as I would a smaller dildo, it’s not really necessary to do that. I have found that while I have to make much smaller and slower movements (especially as using a strap-on means I can’t feel my partners’ bodies, like I would if I were fisting them), the El Rey is so large that these slow small movements still feel really intense to my bottoms.

Something I did have to adjust to was the fact that the El Rey wanted to bend a lot. With some experimenting, we managed to find an angle that worked, but it is something to be aware of the first time you strap-on the El Rey.

Also, something I didn’t quite expect was how different I felt emotionally when strapping on the El Rey compared to my smaller dicks. The size of the El Rey (and the fact my bottom didn’t take it all the way to the base) meant I had to keep a bit more physical distance from my partners than I normally tend to. While this might be less suited to people who like a lot of body contact, I felt that the distance helped me with feeling more dominant, in a ‘untouchable, cold and mean’ kind of way. YMMV, but I found this energy really fun to play into and play with, especially in combination with how intense the stimulation was.

Overall

The El Rey is an absolutely gorgeous sculpt and exceptionally well designed to fit with a user’s body. While it took some adjusting and learning on my part as a strap-on top, once I got used to it I really enjoyed the power wearing the El Rey made me feel. I also think that the 75% firmness is exactly the right firmness choice to give me enough control as a top despite the tendency of the El Rey to bend, and meant it was self-supporting when my bottom partner wanted to ride it.

While I didn’t personally bottom using the El Rey, I also enjoyed grinding on it and trying to fit the head into my mouth — while not as heavily textured as the Hankey’s Toys Dragon (which I asked for and use specifically for humping), it has less give to it than the Dragon, as the silicone is a little firmer. This means I get a bit more pressure when grinding on it without needing as much effort on my part. It’s a difference in sensation I’m not always into, but I do enjoy when I’m feeling it. And while I can only fit the very tip of the El Rey into my mouth, the sculpt is really sexy to me, so I don’t mind (plus I like the jaw ache)!

While the size is not for everyone (and as an aside, if you like the visuals of the El Rey but want a smaller size than my medium, it does come in a Xtra Small), for those who are looking for a bigger realistic toy I really recommend the El Rey!
