Review: Avant P8 Bi Pride Dildo

Blush released the first toys in their Avant Pride line in 2018, which included 6 dildos and butt plugs in pride flag colours. I reviewed the trans pride colours themed P2 earlier this year, but even then had my eye on some of the new toys that I knew Blush were adding to the line in 2019, particularly the bisexual and bear themed toys. Even before SheVibe offered a selection of toys from the new Avant additions for review, I was really hoping for the chance to review those two toys.

upright.pngWhile some of the toys in the original Avant Pride lineup reused shapes, both the Avant Pride P8 and P9 have unique shapes for the line. The bi pride inspired P8, which I’m reviewing today, has a semi-realistic shape. There’s a well defined head and some vein texturing along the shaft, although some details are less realistic. The fact that there’s a series of four very well ridges coming off the frenulum did strike me as a little odd for a semi-realistic dildo. The shaft of the P8 is straight, with no curve, and there’s a suction cup base. The silicone colours are bright, well pigmented, and have very little bleed between colours. I actually wore my P8 to a queer kink party, and received a lot of compliments.

Available for $33.99 from SheVibe, The P8 is harness compatible and anal safe, has a total length of 7.5”, with an insertable length of 7” and a circumference of just under 5”. The silicone is pretty firm and while it does have some squish to it, it isn’t particularly bendable.

The firmness means the P8 works particularly well as an anal dildo, and I’ve primarily used it for solo anal play. I definitely feel the series of ridges around the head during initial penetration, but I don’t really feel the texture during use. There isn’t a huge amount of sensation other than being full, but sometimes I don’t feel in the mood for texture. The relatively slim body of the P8 makes it easy to insert without as much preparation as I’d need for larger toys, and because I didn’t use the entire length anally, the long shape gave me enough of the shaft to handle and control. Because of the lack of a curve in the shaft, it is difficult to get p-spot stimulation at all, let alone enough to orgasm from it. I have managed to angle the P8 just perfectly enough to get some stimulation, but I’ve mostly orgasmed from external stimulation in combination with the P8, rather than from just the P8 itself.

While I’ve primarily used the P8 for anal play, I also really enjoy using it for vaginal play. I’ve been having issues with vaginal penetration using larger toys recently, so the P8’s relatively slim size works really well for me. Like with anal play, I don’t really feel the texture in use, but really like the definition on the head during initial penetration. There’s a very satisfying ‘pop’ feeling from the series of ridges around the head as it enters. However, like with anal use, there wasn’t much g-spot stimulation except for at particular angles, and my orgasms mostly came from adding external stimulation to using the P8.

lonk.pngBecause the shaft is so straight, I also had trouble using the P8 for g/p-spot targeting when wearing it in a harness, just as I did when using it for solo play. It was marginally easier to angle for that by hand, but the Avant P8 definitely wouldn’t be my go-to choice for that kind of stimulation. That said, long thin shape does make it a good choice for rougher and faster thrusting, and means that there’s still a reasonable amount of length left even after the length lost from the harness. I was able to utilise the shape for pounding really effectively and efficiently.

What turned out to be one of my favourite ways to use the P8 is strap-on blowjobs. While the silicone is a little firm, and it’d definitely be easier to use for blowjobs if it were a little softer, the straight shape and slight flex do work well. The partner I used the P8 with was able to bend the shaft to be more comfortable in their mouth, and the pride colours added a little extra fun, as we introduced challenges to take the P8 down to particular colours. That said, the silicone was a little too firm to be comfortable for deepthroating, and if you’re looking for a dildo specifically for blowjobs, I’d recommend checking out dual density silicone dildos like the Vixen Mustang instead of the single density P8.

While I don’t generally use suction cup bases personally, as I don’t really have much to attach them to, I did experiment with sticking the P8 to different surfaces and seeing what kind of force dislodged it. The suction cup base impressed me with its level of hold- I actually really struggled with removing the suction cup base from a couple of surfaces, especially bathroom tile!

While a lot of the appeal of the P8 for me definitely rests on the pride colour scheme, it’s also a good, versatile, body safe dildo at a reasonable price. It’s definitely not a toy for size royalty or for people who really want prostate or g-spot stimulation, but will suit those for those looking for a less girthy semi-realistic toy. If the pride colours aren’t a big factor for you, there are cheaper non-pride colour dildos like the Neo Elite in Neon Green. But if you’re like me and the bi pride colours do appeal, you’re looking for a dildo on the more slim side, and you’re not fussed about a curve, I’d definitely recommend the Avant P8 Bi Pride Dildo.

If you’d like to buy the Avant P8 for yourself, you can buy one from SheVibe for $33.99
