Review: Strange Bedfellas Ziq

October is upon us, and you know what that means- it’s Spooky Season! While I’m a big fan of the spookier side of things pretty much year around[ref]I’m sort of… goth-adjacent? Partly because I’m in grad school and study human remains, so are contractually obliged to wear loads of skulls, ngl[/ref], I definitely get full on during the Halloween season. Most of my home decor is bought around Halloween, and while I definitely have teratophilia fantasies most of the time, Autumn gets me just extra in the mood for them. So while the Ziq– a demon fist dildo sent to me by Strange Bedfellas– is definitely something I’m interested in using year around, I was especially excited to review it around the Halloween season.

ziq1.pngThe Ziq (as the fact it’s a demon fist dildo suggests) is super thick from top to bottom- there’s no tapered head here. It has two sizing options- small and medium- and also has two firmness options- soft or medium. While I’m a big fan of fisting during partnered sex, I’m a fisting top rather than a bottom, so I decided to go for the smaller of the two sizes, and chose the soft firmness. The small size has a total length of 5 inches, with a usable length of 4 inches. Remember what I said about no tapered head? The diameter of the head is 1.8 inches, only a little thinner than the widest shaft diameter of 2.1 inches!

If that’s a little small for you[ref]No shade, I wish I was that much of a size queen tbh[/ref], the medium Ziq is larger, with a total length of 7 inches, a useable length of 5.75 inches, head diameter of 2.6 inches, and widest shaft diameter of 2.9 inches. At the end of this month, Strange Bedfellas will also be releasing a large model, although I don’t know the dimensions of that. Both the small ane medium models have a base wider than the largest shaft diameter (3.75 inches for the small, and 5 inches for the medium) making them technically anal safe and harness compatible, but I haven’t used them this way.

While my butt could take the thickness I still need a bit of a taper for anal toys, and because I haven’t really used the Ziq for thrusting I don’t think I would ever actually chose to use it in a harness. But you could, if you wanted to.

Ziq is, as I said, a demon fist dildo, and the design is just incredibly textured and imaginative and fun! When I first unwrapped the Ziq, I honestly just let it sit down for a bit, because I wanted to take it all in. There’s so many details to talk about, from the scales and claws at the head (I really love how the knuckles are defined for some reason?), to the multiple eyes that dot the Ziq’s form, to the series of spikes around the base.

I mentioned liking black/green colour combos, and my Ziq is a gorgeous mix of a really bright green and a glittery black. The green silicone is almost neon in some places, while also being quite dark in others, and I feel like it adds so much dimension to my Ziq. I really adore the colouration here[ref]Because most of my wardrobe is black, I’m thinking about dying my hair green because I just love this colour combo so much[/ref]. And like with the other Strange Bedfellas toy I’ve reviewed (the Fornax), the silicone quality of the Ziq is superb. There’s no rough edges, no minor defects, and a smooth glossy finish.

Ziq is unlike any other dildo I have to be honest. In my review notes I wrote that pushing it in ‘feels like a punch’, before realising that duh, yeah, of course it does. It’s a fist. While I have taken large toys before, they’ve never had as thick a head as Ziq does, and I can feel the difference. Once the head is in, inserting the rest of the shaft does feel marginally easier, but the thick body and heavy texture mean the whole thing feels incredible intense. When I say that the Ziq is super intense, this extends to the orgasms I have with it inserted. I generally have mild-mid intensity orgasms, but after my first time using the Ziq inserted, I needed like a full 10 minute recovery period.

The shape of the Ziq means for me, it functions almost like a vaginal plug. There’s a slightly thinner neck between the base and the widest point of the shaft, and taking the Ziq down to this point means it sits fairly comfortable. I tend to clench pretty hard, but with the Ziq sitting in me like this, I don’t have to hold it in place while using a vibrator or my hand externally. I was a little concerned that the Ziq’s base would be a vulva hog, and combining the Ziq with an external vibrator (usually the Power Flower) wouldn’t be possible, but this wasn’t the case at all! Like the Fornax, the Ziq is super comfortable for vaginal use, and it definitely feels like users with vaginas were taken into consideration when designing the Ziq, which isn’t always the case with fantasy toys and I really appreciate.

ziqonbase.pngAnother way I’ve found I really love using the Ziq that doesn’t involve inserting it is grinding against it. I really like tribbing in my partnered sex life, and it’s something I also love to do with textured dildos. There’s such a huge variety of closely packed textures on the body of the Ziq that it’s fantastic for this, and the soft firmness has an excellent level of squish for this too. It definitely doesn’t hurt that most of the monster-fucker fantasies I have involve frottage and tribbing rather than me bottoming for penetrative sex (which I don’t enjoy irl).

While Ziq is a little too intense for me to be a insertable toy I use regularly, I would have probably saved up to buy myself one anyway, because it just fits into too many fantasies I have. While I haven’t used the Ziq in partnered sex yet, a couple of my fuckbuddies have talked about including it in our sex. One partner wants to do a role-play scene where he’s a warlock who’s summoned a demon boyfriend, another wants to do a incubus corruption/possession/seduction type scene. There are so many ways to incorporate Ziq into kink and/or fantasy play, and if demons are your thing as much as mine, it’s definitely worth it.

If you’d like your own Ziq, you can buy one from Strange Bedfellas
