When I opened the parcel that contained my Dragon from Hankey’s Toys, my first thought was that I had made a mistake. I knew that I wanted a toy on the larger side for a very specific reason—I’ll talk about that in a second—but while I had done the maths in my head, actually seeing the XL Dragon in my hands was an entirely different thing to running the numbers. This thing is huge—literally the size of my forearm—and it is heavy as you’d expect a solid silicone toy that size to be.
It also has given me some of the best orgasms of my life. Just… in a way that it was completely not designed to do.
Hankey’s Toys (& Why I Asked For This Toy)
I’ve reviewed a few products from Hankey’s Toys before, including both a couple of fantasy toys from their Xtra Small line and their Rentman in a packer softness. They specialise in larger toys—although they also produce some of their designs in ‘Xtra Small’, which have more average dildo dimensions—with a mixture of realistic (including lifecast) and fantasy/sci-fi designs. While the realistic designs honestly don’t do a huge amount for me, the fantasy designs are so imaginative and varied that I get little heart eyes whenever I visit the Fantasy and Sci-Fi section— currently I’m lusting most after the Alien Breeder, Venomous Tongue, and Minotaur.
As a blogger, I am not known for reviewing big dildos. While I have and do like some large toys—the earlier mentioned Rentman, Real Supple Posable Dildo, and Fleshlight Boomer Banks dildos come to mind—I do not have a butthole that is powerful enough for toys that count as large within the fantasy toy market. There is a reason I am generally a top, after all. All that said…. there is a very specific reason that I wanted the Dragon in such a large size, as well as a reason that the Rentman is actually one of the toys from reviewing that I continue to use the most. And that reason is dildo blowjobs. I really love dildo blowjobs, and one day I will write about them in specificity. For now though, know that I love both strapping on a cock to put into a partner’s mouth and love having strapped-on cock in my mouth. Hell, I’d honestly say I prefer receiving strap-on blowjobs to receiving oral sex on my actual genitals.
While it’s not a standard firmness, Hankey’s Toys does offer something they call ‘packer firmness’ with a custom firmness upgrade. It’s not soft enough to actually function as a packer, but it adds a level of squish to dildos that means they really work for me for oral play. Absolutely worth the $15.95 extra for the upgrade. That squish not only made the Rentman my absolute favourite toy to use for giving strap-on blowjobs, but for receiving them as well—positioning it to be both comfortable for my partner and able to give me a fantastic visual was so easy. The only issue—and the reason I wanted to try a larger toy—was that the small Rentman was genuinely a bit too small. I could fit that the Real Supple dildo in my mouth at the same time and still have room for fingers, so I wanted something a bit more challenging. Something that would make my jaw ache a bit more. So I got my hands on the XL Dragon.
The XL Dragon
The first thing I want to say about the Dragon dildo is that it is an absolute work of art. There’s so much detail, from the oval-shape of the very pronounced coronal ridge to the series of large scales running along the top and back, from the folds of skin around the base (which remind me of a cloaca, although I don’t know if that was the intention) to the diamond shaped scales that covers pretty much everywhere that doesn’t have a large defined ridge. So much work has been put into the details of this toy and sometimes I honestly just sit there and admire it.
If you love the design but aren’t sure you want one as large as this, it does come in five sizes— XS, S, M/L, XL, and XXXL. One thing I will say is that while the packer firmness was the right choice for me and how I use my Dragon, it does mean that the XL Dragon isn’t able to stand upright and support its own weight. If you want to straddle and ride your toy, I’d recommend a firmer silicone, even if it means you have to size down. The Dragon’s product page gives a breakdown of most sizes (with the exception of the XS), with the XL having an insertable length of 12 inches, and circumference of between 9.75 and 11 inches (although it is girthy towards the head, at 10 inches circumference).
Using The Dragon
At this size and firmness, using the Dragon for oral play was exactly as good as I expected. I just about take it to the base of the head, which admittedly doesn’t really utilise the length of this toy. But even though it doesn’t involve penetration, I do love using the rest of the shaft for oral play. It’s a very satisfying toy to mouth at and play with. And when I do use the head for penetrative oral play, it leaves my jaw aching in exactly the way I want, without feeling impossible.
Now, here’s the fun part. As well as being good for playing with using my mouth, that shaft texture is really good for grinding on. The texture at this size is the perfect sweet spot between having some give and having enough firmness to hold its shape. Grinding is one of my favourite ways to have partnered sex and I’m always on the lookout for new toys intended for it. But I wasn’t intending that to be—for me—the absolute highlight of the Dragon. When I said earlier that the Dragon had given me some of the best orgasms of my life, I meant it—lying on my back, covering the Dragon in lube, and sliding it down my body with the head pointed towards my butt feels so good. While I actually come more easily by lying the Dragon down and straddling it before grinding, there’s something about that sliding motion that really does it for me. While I can’t take the Dragon vaginally (and tbh, don’t enjoy large toys vaginally enough to want to), the feeling of the head just pushing at the opening to my vagina—not pushing in, just applying pressure— is the one of the most enjoyable vaginal penetration-adjacent experiences I think I’ve ever had.
The Dragon is heavy enough that it requires two hands to hold, but getting an extra pair by using the Dragon with a partner opened up even more possibilities. I’m really lucky in that the Dragon arrived around the same time as the Zalo Bess (review upcoming), a clitoral vibrator that’s pinpoint and small enough to be able to slide into place without getting in the way of the Dragon as it slides up against me. Those combined gave me what I thought was the best orgasm of my life. Or at least I did until one time I decided to try continuing to grind on the Dragon after a first orgasm, and had an orgasm so good it felt like it broke my brain.
Overall
I’m not sure if I should recommend the Dragon, because I’m aware I’m using it in a very specific way with very specific preferences, and that very few people reading this review will be in the same position. But fuck me if it doesn’t work wonders for that combination. It’s not an ‘every time I have partnered sex’ toy, or even a ‘every few times I have sex’ toy, but when I want to feel absolutely wrecked, the Dragon is the toy I ask my partner to bring out. It may be a niche use and Hankey’s products may not be cheap, but for what it’s worth my partner and I were actually saving up for this exact toy before getting into contact with Hankey’s Toys. And having now used it? I can say for certain I would have been absolutely happy to pay that full amount for this toy, custom firmness upgrade and all.
