Review: Uberrime Amante Triple Density Dildo

One of the things I remember most acutely from my early days of reviewing is how much my first dual-density dildo blew my mind. While over the years the Pleasure Works First Mate has had a lot of competition (and was later dethroned as my favourite strap-on cock by the NYT Shilo), the moment where I first squeezed the soft outer silicone and felt the firm core is one that’s always stuck with me.

I absolutely had another of those ‘oh wow. oh wow’ moments when squeezing the Uberrime Amante for the first time. I’ve reviewed a handful of dual density toys, but the Amante is the first triple density dildo I’ve ever owned.

The Uberrime Amante

Chunky and more on the representational side of designs, the Uberrime Amante has an insertable length of 7.5 inches. The head is pretty pronounced and is a little wider in diameter than the maximum point of the shaft, at 1.83 inches to 1.8 inches. It’s 100% the most expensive dildo I have ever reviewed or received, but it’s absolutely worth it for the amount of work that goes into pouring it.

The Amante’s sculpt is super detailed, with veins and skin folds and a frenulum. It doesn’t have balls, instead opting for a chunky round base. As well as three skin tones (the Amante I received for review is the lightest skin tone), it’s also available in an absolutely gorgeous colour shift blue (and you can get custom colours direct from Uberrime if that doesn’t suit you).

I was actually incredibly tempted by that lovely blue. The only reason I ended up going for a skin tone was that I generally prefer the dildos I primarily use for strap-on sex to be similar to my skin tone. While I really wanted to review the Amante to see what a triple-density silicone dildo was like, another big part of the appeal was how close to my dream strap-on cock it looked.

I’ve always known my dream strap-on cock was a multiple density cock, heavy on the representational side of things. While I’ve heard some fantastic things about Vixskin dildos over the years, I’ve never found one that seemed to match my preference. I prefer topping with cocks that have straight shafts and really don’t like having balls built into the base of my strap-on dildos. And the Amante made my top senses tingle the moment I saw it from how well it seemed to fit into those preferences.

Anal With The Amante

The firmness of the Amante is in the fantastic sweet spot of ‘being soft enough to be comfortable anally, while being firm enough I don’t struggle to get it in’. It takes some warming up and I can’t take the whole length—especially as I tend towards thick and short for anal—but it’s super comfortable once in.

I will admit that my butthole can’t differentiate between the three firmnesses. I can’t speak to using the Amante vaginally, but anally the Amante feels pretty similar to dual density dildos. To me, the triple density is absolutely worth it in other places, but if you were strictly only looking for anal penetration with the Amante I think a dual density dildo could give you a similar experience at a lower price point.

However, it’s with strap-on sex that the Amante really shines for me.

Strap-On Sex

I know my ‘this seems like my dream [x]’ senses aren’t always right (see my Aslan Jag review for more on that), but I was 100% right when it comes to the Amante.

While its large, challenging size means it won’t be my default strap-on dildo (especially for partners who I know aren’t size royalty), it feels absolutely fantastic to strap on. It’s very comfortable and (paired with the Jag, which I’ve warmed to) it makes me feel incredibly sexy.

Obviously, making a wearer feel sexy doesn’t mean a strap-on cock is actually good for strap-on sex. Fortunately, the Amante excels on that front too.

The thickness and size of this base is definitely the right choice— the base is cast in the medium soft outer layer of silicone. While it definitely has less give than the very soft middle layer, it still bends a little more than I’d feel comfortable with in terms of harness stability if it were any thinner.

The slight squish does actually come in handy in another way too! Because of the weight and size of the Amante, I was a little worried it might be uncomfortable on my mons. While I personally love to use bases like the Alia (also by Uberrime) to cushion some of that, I know not everyone has access to a base, finds they work for their body, or even wants one, especially if they’re a stone top, so I wanted to try without one.

Really pounding with the Amante (not for everyone, but I love topping like that) still definitely comes with the risk of tenderising your mons, don’t get me wrong! But the squish of the base minimises it compared to how bad I feared it would be.

As I said earlier, the Amante’s triple density design makes it softer and squishier around the frenulum. It definitely doesn’t have the same movability as the Strap-on-Me Sliding Skin Dildo, but unlike the Sliding Skin Dildo, the movability is limited to a particular part of the shaft.

I’m aware this definitely seems like I’m splitting hairs to at least some of you, but for some reason this distinction really matters to my horny brain, dysphoria brain, and where the two intersect. It also makes strap-on handjobs really satisfying to me, both to watch and to do. Strap-on blowjobs are also something I find that works well with the Amante. On the receiving end I do tend to prefer very soft silicone (the packer softness silicone from Mr Hankey’s Toys is still my personal gold standard for that), but the firm core of the Amante makes it easier to control for thrusting. I don’t really feel the distinction between the three layers when it’s in my mouth, but playing with the ‘skin’ layer with my hands while giving dildo blowjobs is really fun!

My only complaint about the Amante when it comes to strap-on sex is the size of it. It’s a little too large for some of my partners, so I do like the flexibility of some other options. But I also think because of the triple layer structure, downsizing the Amante might be difficult, if possible at all.

Amante vs Shilo

I wanted to do a quick comparison between the Amante and cock to previously hold my ‘favourite strap-on dildo’ title— the New York Toy Collective Shilo.

The Shilo’s main big feature compared to the other Amante is the fact it’s a pack-and-play rather than just a dildo. While I wouldn’t recommend it for everyday packing (go for a soft packer for that), the bendable core does mean I can get away with wearing it for pre-hookup meets, dates, or cruising (especially under a kilt). It’s also a lot more comfortable to wear around at play parties, because I can tuck it to my leg. It has the more pronounced head of the two, although while it keeps its bend pretty well, the squishy silicone does mean it’s not great for targeted g-spot or prostate stimulation.

In fairness, the Amante isn’t great for that either. While I do adjust my technique and dick depending on the preferences of my bottom, my preferences for fucking is a mix of ‘long, slow, straight strokes’ or ‘absolutely jackhammering’, which the Amante is more suited to. Of course, that’s if my partner is up for how big and chunky the Amante is.

As a strap-on top, I definitely feel more ‘right’ wearing the Amante. I realise that’s something very vague and non-specific, and that my preferences as a top are not universal. However, there’s something about the Amante that lights up the ‘oh yeah, this is my cock’ part of my brain more than the Shilo.

Overall

I really, really love the Amante. The only reason it’s not a perfect strap-on cock for me is the size. It’s not my largest dildo, or even the largest dildo I’ve used for penetration, but it is pretty big. Because I know the Amante isn’t necessarily manageable for my partners, my Shilo is still going to remain my default strap-on cock. Although let it be known that if both were an option with somebody, I would absolutely choose the Amante. I also don’t want to harp on the size too much— I think that just comes with the territory of having to contain three layers of silicone

Is the feel of the Amante worth the price tag? I think that’s something to decide for yourself— when it’s inside me, I can’t really differentiate between the triple silicone and a cheaper dual density silicone. But so much of how I like using a dildo is not just about it being inside me, and I personally feel that the way the Amante can be moved and played with completely makes it worth it for me. I’m actually considering buying myself a custom Amante in green, if that gives you an indication of how much I love this dildo.
