Review: Tentickle Toys Skwee Vaginal Plug

You’ve likely heard of butt plugs before, but have you heard of vaginal plugs? While you can use anal plugs vaginally (and I have done so), the shape of the classic butt plug isn’t especially well suited to vaginal use. A cone shaped taper has its benefits in the slowly increasing size, but lacks a shape that particularly suits the shape of the vaginal canal — which is where specialist vaginal plugs come in.

Skwee

Skwee is designed by Tentickle Toys, who also designed the Wölfing, one of my favourite toys I reviewed in 2021. Like the Wölfing — and the Tenton, another of Tentickle Toys’ offerings that I purchased for myself — it’s a gorgeously designed fantasy toy, available in both pre-made options and to order.

While primarily designed as a vaginal plug, the wide t-bar style means it’s also safe to use as an anal toy. This isn’t something I’ve seen on other vaginal plugs, so I was really excited to see how well the dual use worked. The t-bar base is also textured for use as a grinding toy (and if there’s one thing I love it’s a grinding toy) so this was something else I was super excited for.

The Skwee is modular, with two bulb size options and two base size options, which can be combined whichever way you prefer. Tentickle Toys were generous enough to offer me one of each combination, and where I have specific feedback about which feature or combination of features worked best for me, I’ll specify that.

As well as combining the sizes you like, your made-to-order Skwee can also be made with your choice of silicone firmness and colour options. My large bulb Skwees were made with a soft silicone (about a 0030 shore), while my small bulb ones were made with a medium firmness (0050 shore). If you prefer things a bit squishier, there is also a super soft option of 0020 shore.

As there’s so much customisation, the price of a Skwee can vary — depending on the options you choose, your made-to-order Skwee can cost between £47 and £54.

Using Vaginally

One of the reasons I was super excited to try a vaginal plug is that I know my preferred/main method of vaginal play is to have something inserted and not move it. Some people definitely prefer thrusting — whether that’s for g-spot stimulation, a-spot stimulation, or just for the general feeling of it — but I am not one of them. Because of this, I’ve always thought that I was probably the ideal customer for vaginal plugs. And — as it turns out — I was right.

For some context, when I involved my vagina in masturbation, it’s pretty strictly in the form of ‘having something inserted while I engage in clitoral stimulation’. The t-bar base of the Skwee does pose a little bit of a problem in terms of clitoral access in both long and short options, but both the medium and soft silicones are manipulable enough that it’s pretty easy to just move them out of the way if I do want some clitoral access.

In my notes, I’ve written ‘this absolutely rules’ a few times, and while I know I should be more detailed in my actual review, I do want to reiterate — this absolutely rules. While I’ve mostly tended towards small and dual density dildos for the times I want some vaginally fullness, the shape of the average dildo doesn’t make me feel as full as the Skwee does. This is especially the case after the hysterectomy I had at the end of February (which caused me to lose some vaginal depth), as the dildos that are good for me length wise tend to be quite skinny. Both the small and large Skwee bulbs are short and fat enough that I can fit them length wise while also being challenged by them girthwise.

The Skwee’s design — with a fat body and skinny neck — also deals with one of the issues I’ve always tended to come up against when using dildos in this way — pushing the toy out when I orgasm. In much the same way that a skinny neck on a buttplug means it can stay in place even as the anal sphincter tenses, the thin neck on the Skwee means it’s a lot harder to accidentally push out as I orgasm. Admittedly, it has still happened a couple of times, but even then having a bit more resistance means my orgasms don’t feel ‘ruined’ in the way they do when a dildo shoots out of me and across the room.

Grinding

Combining grinding on the Skwee’s base with plugging was one of the things I was most interested to try out. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s a good match for me specifically.

This isn’t to say that the Skwee is badly designed for this purpose, because it absolutely isn’t! The thin neck is the perfect length to allow for enough wiggling to get good grinding sensation out of the base, while the bulb still stays firmly inserted. The texture of the base is also very good, with a gently curved raised centre and tentacle sucker texture that’s a great balance point between too subtle and too exaggerated.

The only real issue I have with the combination of grinding and using the bulb vaginally is entirely one of personal feelings. I have a complicated relationship with penetration, to the point where I don’t do it in the presence of my partners at all, even with toys. While I love grinding and I really like the way the Skwee gives me a sense of fullness when I do want something in my vagina, the two together just sets something off in my brain that leaves me a little uncomfortable.

Again, I want to reiterate this isn’t at all a problem with the Skwee itself, in design or in execution. While the placement can be a little awkward, I have tried grinding on a Skwee base without insertion, and genuinely enjoy the texture on its own. If you’re not in the particular crossover of neuroses as me, this isn’t likely to be an issue you bump up against at all. And even with my particular complex feelings around penetration, there is one way I really love combining the Skwee’s bulb and the grindable base.

Strap-On Use

So using the Skwee with a strap-on isn’t something I thought of until pretty late in my testing phase. My main process of thought was that I really like using grindable bases or toys like the Alia or BumpHer with strap-ons, and I also know that harness attachments that allow a harness wearer to experience penetration (like the Double Up Cuff for the Aslan Jag or Dual Dildo Strap-On Accessory for the Sh! Super Strap-On Harness) are pretty popular. Using the Skwee as a combination of the two seemed like it’d be an interesting experience, at the very least. Turns out it rules.

I will give the caveat that part of how successful this is depends specifically on your harness design. Harnesses without straps (like the SpareParts Tomboi) don’t work at all. On top of this, harnesses with straps that cover the vulva tend to work better than ones that leave it uncovered and/or accessible. The SpareParts Joque worked quite well for me, although I found a good amount of success with my Sh! Super Strap-On Harness. I also found my custom harness — which consists of the front panel of an Aslan Jag connected to the back piece of a Babes N Horny Paris harness — worked quite well, while that Aslan Jag front on the Aslan Jag back didn’t work so well. Basically, the less the straps spread apart to cup the buttcheeks and the more vulva coverage they provide, the better.

With those caveats, I found that if straps lay on top of the base of the Skwee while it was inserted, they were really good at providing sensory feedback. It was definitely pretty broad feedback, and mostly in the form of vague pressure or tension, but I got something out of it. At the same time, the base of the Skwee both provided me something to grind on and gave my poor pubic bone a bit of cushioning when it came to more vigorous fucking.

I found the longer bases worked best for me here, although I will give the caveat that I have quite a fatty/fleshy mons, and somebody with less fluff there might find them a bit too long.

I’m really glad I tried this, as it’s a great way to use the Skwee! Very akin to a “strapless” strap on, although not as physically demanding for a top, with the extra support of a harness, and with the mons-protecting cushioning of a grinding base.

Anal Use

While the Skwee is primarily a vaginal plug, it is anal safe. Because of this, I wanted to test out my Skwee-s anally before review.

The first observation I have is that I made absolutely the correct choices in terms of firmness and size combinations for anal. The medium firmness for the small means they have a comfortable level of give to them, while still holding their shape during insertion. And the soft firmness is absolutely fantastic for the large bulbs anally.

As with my favourite butt plug, the soft silicone does make them a bit of a challenge to insert, but once they’re in they’re so comfortable. I honestly think the Skwee is pretty on par with that aforementioned favourite (the Oxballs Ergo) in terms of how much I like it. If I’m being pernickety, the long base of the Skwee (even the short base option, which I do have a strong preference for anally) does make it a little uncomfortable for longer-term wear, so the Oxballs Ergo edges out in front. But personally, I’ve hit a point where I don’t plug long term super regularly, and I also really like the fantasy design and elements of the Skwee.

Overall

I think the Skwee may take the crown for the most versatile toy I’ve reviewed, and the one that succeeds the most at all its possible ways of use. Even its one weak point for me is more a weak point because of my own personal preferences, and not an issue with design at all. In fact, the only time I think I would definitely not recommend it is for people who know they strictly prefer their toys to thrust.

I do think it’s worth thinking about the ways in which you’re most likely to use your Skwee and choosing which base you’d prefer based on that. If you want to use it as a strap-on accessory, the larger base worked better for me, while if you’re looking for an anal toy I preferred the small base.

That said, these preferences are just that — preferences. I was still able to use a small base for strap-on sex and a larger one for anal play very successfully.

Overall, I really love the Skwee! Tentickle Toys has a knack for really fun and versatile toy designs, and as with the Wölfing I’m both impressed by the Skwee and had a really great time reviewing it!
