Highlights From 2021
I Wrote A Book!
I wrote a non-fiction trans-centred sex ed book! This one has been behind the scenes, so I haven’t been talking much about it, but I’m so happy and proud that I’ve done it. The manuscript is actually only just done at the time of posting, so I am going to take a couple of weeks off from writing anything to give myself a break. I don’t currently have an estimated publication date or finalised title, but will talk about those when I have more information.
I Started Writing Original Erotica Again + Got Some Accepted For Publication
One of the things I mentioned in my roundup of last year was that I wanted to get more into writing original erotica, following a return to writing fanfiction I made last year. I haven’t written a huge amount of smut, but there’s still been some! And I have a load of work-in-progress pieces to come back to and work on.
The main highlight for erotica writing this year is I got some accepted for publication— I have a story in the upcoming own voices anthology Heckin’ Lewd: Trans and Nonbinary Erotica! My story ‘This Fragile Little Affair’ is an incredibly self-indulgent trans man/trans woman scene in a high fantasy setting, although there’s a huge variety of stories within the anthology. The release date June 2022, so we still have a little bit of a wait, but I’m still really excited!
Goals For 2022
A lot of my goals are actually non-blog related, in that they’re more about wanting to level up particular skills or find the perfect version of a piece of gear. But they are sex related, so I want to talk about them here!
Learn To Do Full Rope Suspensions
I love rope topping, but for a couple of years I’ve tapped out at partial suspensions. This year, I’d like to book into some classes and try to learn how to do a full suspension (plus switch with a rope partner and get fully suspended for the first time!)
Find My Dream Leather Strap-On Harness
I’ve realised this year that I’m exceptionally particular about strap-on harnesses, in ways that explains why the Joque is the only strap-on harness I’ve ever loved. As somebody stone-adjacent, I very specifically want my entire vulva covered by a harness, and I mean between the legs and not just the mons. I haven’t ever found a leather harness that has a design like that, but I’ve started testing the waters around custom work and reached out to some leatherworkers to see if they’d make me a custom. So that’s exciting and hopefully something I’ll get my hands on this coming year!
Try A Vulva Pump
I’ve tried clit pumps before, but I’ve yet to try a whole vulva pump, and I want to try one before bottom surgery will leave me unsure if I’ll fit into one. This isn’t a hugely deep desire, and I don’t know what to expect so probably won’t make this a review situation, but I would like to try it this year!
Write More Erotica
I feel like this one was to be expected. As well as writing larger volumes of erotica, I also want to get into writing weirder erotica. I have a huge soft spot for sci-fi and fantasy erotica, and I feel I can go weirder and fun places with that! Think aliens, monsters, werewolves, etc, especially experimenting with monster erotica that doesn’t focus on penetrative sex (or penises at all). I’d also like to try writing more D/s and SM material, particularly that not involving conventional forms of sex. Maybe both at the same time! I’d also like to play around with interactive fiction tools and forms, although I don’t think I’ll be making anything polished with that any time soon.
2022 Review Wishlist
As always, I have a few products I really want to try and review. Some items that were on my specific item wishlist at the start of 2022 but have since arrived include the Strap-On-Me Squirting Dildo, B.J. Dildo Next Generation, and Uberrime Alia Grinder. Other items I’d love to review this year include:
• Sh! Thigh Strap On Harness
• Wand Essentials Universal Wand Harness
• SpareParts Tomboi Harness (because I think it’s time I give brief harnesses another fair shot)
Other than and more generally than these, I’d love to review more grinding toys, anal toys, and packers/gender expression items this year! And November/December next year I’d love to review a sex toy/sexual wellness/BDSM advent calendar. My goal for last year was to review a bunch of BDSM gear, which I think I achieved, so I’m hopeful about hitting these goal this coming year. And one incredibly self-indulgent thing I’d love is impact toys shaped like medieval weapons (mostly swords, although flail maces and hammers would also be very welcome). I also had a ton of fun reviewing the SheVibe Fantasmic #NSFW Coloring Book, and would love to review more products like that in future.
2021 Top 10
#1: Unicorn Collaborators Hand Harness
The Unicorn Collaborators Hand Harness takes the number one spot for me this year, because it gave me more ‘I wish I knew about this before!’ feelings than anything else. It’s truly such an excellent harness, and I am so grateful that I got to try it!
#2: (Tie) ZALO Bess & We-Vibe Tango X
This one is a tie. I do think the Tango X is a far better vibrator, and up until the ZALO Bess arrived it was my go-to bedside vibrator. I have ended up using the Bess a lot more and it has dethroned the Tango X buuuut…. I also think that’s due to very specific preferences I have, and I think the Bess has a lot of issues. So many issues, in fact, that I didn’t want to give it its own spot on this list (especially this high up), despite how much I’ve ended up using it.

#3: Kudu Voodoo Lennex
I love fantasy packers (and have a continually updating roundup of them), and the Lennex from Kudu Voodoo is no exception! It also has the distinguishing feature of being the only item on this list I bought myself rather than receiving for review.
#4: Hot Octopuss JETT
The Hot Octopuss JETT made my partner reconsider her previous assertion that vibrators don’t do anything for her, and I feel like that’s justification enough for putting it this high. That said, I also want to highlight how versatile it it—the JETT is meant for average-sized penises, but the bullet vibrators it uses can be used clitorally and—IME—are rumbly enough that combining them with a strap-on dildo and strap-on base feels pleasurable.
#5: Liebe Seele Wild Gent Ball Gag
The Liebe Seele Wild Gent Ball Gag isn’t a groundbreaking design, but it absolutely doesn’t have to be! It’s an elevated version of a design that’s classic for a reason—out of the seven gags I own, the Wild Gent Ball Gag is my favourite, especially when it comes to comfort.
#6: Tentickle Toys Wölfing
I’m really glad that I got to work with Tentickle Toys this year, and I’m so glad that Fran asked me if I’d be interested in reviewing the Wölfing way back when it was still in development! The Wölfing is a really fun, versatile fantasy dildo, and absolutely deserves to take the top spot for dildos this year. (Plus I have just realised is actually the only penetrative toy to make it on to the top 10 list? Wild, but entirely deserved!)
#7: Mr Hanky’s Toys XL Dragon
While I didn’t use the XL Dragon in the manner it was intended—for penetration—it’s still become one of my favourite toys of the year. In packer firmness, it’s perfect for grinding and sliding up against.
#8: MEO Tenderizer Paddle
While the other products I reviewed for MEO this year didn’t come across so well, I love the Tenderizer paddle! It’s become an impact play staple, able to be used for more intense and more gentle spanking play alike.
#9: Passion Craft Store BDSM Wax Play Candles
The Passion Craft Store candles I received for review are my ideal waxplay candles—hot enough to be mean, thick enough for colour to come through, easy to remove without too much mess. They’re not necessarily the right candles if you prefer gentler sensations, but for me they’re perfect.
#10: Emojibator Funfetti Rope
Finally, the Emojibator Funfetti Rope was my first time working with bamboo rope, and I loved it! It’s going to be floorwork or bedroom bondage only rope for me personally, but it’s absolutely fantastic for that purpose. Soft, comfortable, and with a wonderful fun colour.
